Digital Narrative : Sultana's Dream

Digital Narrative : Sultana's Dream

Hello, I am Emisha Ravani, Writing this blog as a part of Sunday Activity and to understand the Digital Narrative.

1. Concept of Andarmehel – the universe of Women

2. Observation of females and their connection with books.(Colonial education movement)

3. Compare both narratives.

These are the three aspects which, I will discuss here but, Before that we will get initial information about the author.

Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, commonly known as Begum Rokeya, was a prominent Bengali feminist thinker, writer, educator and political activist from British India. She is widely regarded as a pioneer of women's liberation in South Asia.

Concept of Andarmehel :

Rokeya Begum was a Pioneer of woman liberation. Chapter one is “An Inner World of Their Own”. In the earlier part of the nineteenth century, There was the system of Andarmahal or Zenana. The women accessed the Andarmahal. They had to do household works and they could roaming in that world only. There any man could not get inside of that place even.

Observation of females and their connection with books.(Colonial education movement):

When we have a look to the other chapters further we can find that there is special mention of the connection of women and books. How they can evolve themselves and how some women were yet going to the old ideas about women. How men used to meet each other and try to solve through the books which spoke about how women should behave in their home systems.

Compare both narratives :

Both the narratives are good at their level, Sultana’s Dream sounds very interesting rather than Sultana’s Reality in the term of feminine world and when we see the work of her reality the project seems very wonderfully designed and codified at extreme level. Also there is open platform to share is very good idea for the narrative style itself. How the author has used satire form to portray the real things.

THANK YOU!
